She is the creator of the show Baited with Ziwe which aired for three seasons on Comedy Central. Fumudoh was born in Nigeria and raised in Houston, Texas, where she attended school before studying theater at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating, she moved to New York City and started doing stand-up comedy in Harlem as well as working as a writer.

The gender rumors about the black American comedian arose in 2018 when she posted an Instagram photo wearing colorful hair extensions. This led to some people believing that she might be transgender.
