Lili Elbe, born as Einar Magnus Andreas Wegener on 28th December 1882, was a Danish painter and one of the earliest individuals to undergo gender reassignment surgery. She was a prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ community due to her courageous transition. Hailing from Vejle, Denmark, Elbe was a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where she met her future wife, Gerda Gottlieb.
